Nota musical con alt12/30/2023 It is not even that it fails to make something of the ideas, characters and story – it is that it simply has no desire to do anything with them – like it is happy to be nothing. The lack of anything else is what kills the film because by the halfway point the empty noise becomes nothing more than noise. There is no heart to them and as such these parts of the film are nothing more than another blockbuster with loads of effects but nothing else. But they aren't connected to anything in the film and this means that they have the same effect as they do in the trailer – "oh, that's fancy" but nothing more. They work for what they are and, even though the slow-mo, use of music and overall design is derivative, it does still provide plenty of style. In fairness these massively dumb action sequences are full of style and presentation with impressive effects. It might as well be a different film in these action sequences, and indeed they are – but the problem is that these sequences seem to be the film that Snyder wanted to make. So for example when Babydoll dances to distract the mayor to allow the others to pickpocket a cigarette lighter, we cut away to a sequence of the girls raiding a castle to kill a dragon and steal the crystals that make it breathe fire. The dual fantasy sequences do not connect to any of the ideas or possible themes but rather represent an action sequence in the place of a (often mundane) aspect of the girl's plan to escape the burlesque house (which itself is a fantasy version of the mental institution). The problem is that, despite setting up these themes, the film does nothing with them – nothing at all. Certainly after watching the first very stylish fifteen minutes this felt like a film that would take this foundation of abuse and deep physiological injury and do something exciting, interesting and clever with it – at least, that's how it felt it could have been. On the face of it this film could have been similar to Pan's Labyrinth in regards the idea of a young girl/woman living through hardship and extending that hardship into a fantasy world of demons and otherworldly creatures. But critics can be biased and marketing can be misleading, so I decided to give this a go. Of course I had seen the MTV-friendly action trailer. Of course I had heard all the negative reviews when I sat to watch this.

Conspiracy theorist and Trump enthusiast Alex Jones issued a video in which he worked himself into a lather detailing alleged connections between Lady Gaga, the "pizzagate" scandal, "spirit cooking," meat suits, Satanic rituals, and "the rise of the robots": Gaga, who supported Hillary Clinton in the election and has made many a public statement in support of LGBTQ rights and against bullying, once described Trump as "one of the most notorious bullies we've ever seen." When the flamboyant, outspoken Lady Gaga was hired to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl not long after President Donald Trump was inaugurated, there was speculation that she might use her stage time to make a political statement. Eleven years later, when his sister, Janet Jackson, performed a duet with Justin Timberlake between halves of Super Bowl XXXVIII, her breast was exposed on live television, earning the CBS network an FCC fine for indecency and introducing the euphemism "wardrobe malfunction" to the English lexicon. When Michael Jackson was booked in 1993, his three-song set garnered higher ratings than the first half of the football game. Some of the shows have attained legendary status. The roster of pop stars headlining the Super Bowl has included the likes of Beyonce, Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, and Madonna. Star light projector12/29/2023 If you’re tech-savvy, we recommend the Liuyang Galaxy Projector, because it's highly customizable and can be controlled with a companion smartphone app or with your voice using the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa smart home platforms. Some double as white noise machines or Bluetooth speakers, and many can sync to your music to create a cool light show that complements your tunes. Several galaxy smart projectors do more than just project lights on a blank wall or ceiling. Having adjustable brightness is especially nice to have in case you want a dimmer projection to fall asleep to. If you’re shopping for someone who really likes to fine-tune settings, you should also shop for a model that lets you change colors. Adjustable Settingsīe sure to pay attention if the projector has adjustable settings that control the projector’s intensity, its brightness, and its rotation speed. The models we’ve highlighted are more novelty items than scientific tools, and help create ambiance. Although we admire projectors like these, we haven’t featured any of them in this guide because they’re harder to use, and are not what most people are looking for when searching for a galaxy star projector. There are a number of scientifically accurate star projectors, such as the SEGA Homestar, that my colleagues at Popular Mechanics endorse because they display true star clusters and essentially turn your room into a mini-planetarium. These mesmerizing projectors make an excellent gift and are perfect for entertainers looking to create extra ambiance, as well, but there are a few things to keep in mind before making a purchase. If you’re in search of the best galaxy projector that provides an ethereal glow with stunning galaxies, swirling stars, and captivating constellations, you'll find them all here. Some models allow users to change the colors to precisely match their mood. They use LED and laser lighting to create colorful light effects that resemble starry night skies and nebula clouds that transport you to new dimensions. These inexpensive and highly entertaining gadgets are satisfying for people of all ages. Kids these days sure have an upgrade on my crappy plastic stars thanks to galaxy star projectors. Each night I would zone out and be absolutely enamored by their glow and would think about how badly I wanted to win the trip to Space Camp awarded as the grand prize on one of the ’90s Nickelodeon game shows until I’d eventually drift off to sleep. That’s why I used to drink.” Despite years of struggle, he didn’t achieve lasting sobriety until 2008. “I’m actually a shy, nervous person,” he said in 1998. In the entire first decade of the band’s success, he didn’t have a single sober day. Like his father and brother, he was an alcoholic. “It’s like I’ve never written a song before. “Every time I walk into the studio it seems like the first time,” he said in 1996. When you do, you’ll be free.” Even as he was widely acclaimed as the most exciting guitar player alive, even as Templeman was comparing him to Bach and Charlie Parker in the same sentence, Eddie was plagued by insecurity, requiring liberal doses of alcohol and sometimes cocaine to overcome his anxiety. At that point, his mom was still convinced it wouldn’t last, and that he’d have to go back to school.Īt the height of his early success, with “Jump” all over MTV, he confessed to fearing he was “stupid,” and in another interview the same year, called himself “selfish” and a “sick fuck.” “Ed – you are a good man,” Bertinelli wrote in her memoir’s dedications. Eddie was still living with his mom and dad at the age of 25, when he had already made multiple platinum albums. “When you grow up that way, it’s not conducive to self-esteem.”Īt the same time, as chronicled in Greg Renoff’s indispensable early-years bio Van Halen Rising, the Van Halen parents were supportive enough to stretch their finances to buy Alex a drum kit and Eddie a Gibson Les Paul in 1969. “The whole time I was growing up, my mom used to call me a ‘nothing nut - just like your father,’” he told Guitar World. His mom pushed classical piano studies so hard that Eddie took to casually comparing his upbringing to the movie Shine, in which parental pressure drives a musical prodigy into a mental breakdown. There was a fair amount of self-loathing in his makeup. “It’s the universal vibration,” he told me in 2007. He went on to spend a good portion of his life in that realm of pure music, retreating into endless, meditative, alcohol-fueled jams in hotel rooms or in his studio. He avoided the ups and downs of high school social life, and sometimes school itself, by holing up in his bedroom with his guitar and a six-pack. But there were also darker currents in his emotional life he couldn’t express in words, even to those closest to him. The joy he conveyed onstage with guitar in hand was genuine and profound.
